Here are some of the most common FAQ’s from Shakeology.com as well as the most common questions I receive from my customers.   If you have more questions, please contact me!

What Shakeology flavors are available?
Shakeology is currently available in Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Greenberry, Vegan Chocolate and Vegan Tropical Strawberry flavors. Chocolate and vanilla are by far the most popular with my customers but

Is Shakeology Good for You?
Is the sky blue?! haha Seriously though, Beachbody has put their heart and soul into the development of this product. I challenge you to find a product on the market that has the high quality ingredients that Shakeology has, all in one bag.  It would take you a lot of supplements and WAY more money to get the nutrients you find in 1 scoop of  Shakeology.

Where is Shakeology Available for Purchase?
Shakeology is currently only available for purchase to those living in the United States and Canada and can only be purchased through a Beachbody coach (me.) Shakeology is also NOT available in retail stores for purchase. To order, go here.

What does my order of Shakeology come with?
If you decide to sign up for monthly autoship when you order, you will receive a 30-day money back guarantee, super-discount shipping, and me as your FREE Fitness and Health Coach. $2 shipping will save you about $11 per month on your order and ensure that you never run out of product. You can cancel anytime if you wish without any penalties.

What if I don’t like Shakeology? Can I get a full refund?
Great News! Yes absolutely!  Shakeology is backed by a 30-day, money back guarantee called the  “Bottom of the Bag guarantee.”  If you don’t begin to see and feel the benefits of Shakeology within the very first month of using it, or you are not 100% satisfied for any reason, simply return the empty bag within 30 days for a full refund of the purchase price less shipping and handling. When you purchase through me, you also get my help in getting your order refunded.

How Much Does Shakeology Cost?
A 30-day supply of Shakeology retails for $129.95 USD (you receive 10% off as a club member ($116.95) or 25% as a coach ($97.46)). That’s $4.33 USD ($3.90 club member, $3.25 coach) per serving. In my opinion, that is pretty inexpensive considering how hard it is to replace an entire meal for less than that and have it be nutritious. Even your fast food restaurants or local coffee shop can’t beat that price. For the amount of nutrition you are receiving it is well worth the investment into your health.

How Long Does Shakeology Last?
Shakeology comes in a 30-day bulk package  so if you consume one shake a day each bag will last you a month. For added convenience, Shakeology also comes in 24 individual serving packets so you can take your meal with you to work and other events on the go!

Is Shakeology Organic?
Beachbody has put every effort into making sure that the ingredients in Shakeology do not contain pesticides, are not destroyed in processing, are produced using the best of the fair trade practices, and have many of the benefits of what is considered “organic.” You might ask why it is not “certified organic?” The experience of the Beachbody development team has shown that sometimes certified organic does not necessarily translate to higher quality. Certifying something can simply jack up the price, especially with ingredients of this quality and quantity. Beachbody decided to focus on making sure the quality and integrity of the product lives up to the promise, without asking you to pay the premium.

Shakeology mentions “whole-food” ingredients but how can this be possible if it is a powder?
Shakeology uses several whole-food sources of nutrients, rather than using only synthetic extracts or isolates (like some multivitamin pills do). The benefit of whole-food derived ingredients is that the nutrients are preserved as close to their natural state as possible and are therefore delivered to your body in the most holistic way possible. Your body will better absorb and more efficiently use nutrients from whole-food sources. The process of converting a food from its natural state to a powder, if done incorrectly, can destroy the nutrients in that food. With Shakeology, Beachbody ensures that the highest levels of nutrients are preserved through strict temperature-controlled drying and processing.

Is Shakeology Vegetarian?
The only non-vegetarian ingredient is whey protein, which comes from milk. There are also 2 vegan flavors (vegan chocolate and vegan tropical strawberry) that contain plant-based proteins and ingredients.  Vegan means that the formula contains nothing derived from animals.

Is it OK to drink more than one shake per day?
Yes, but it is not recommended replacing more than 2 meals a day with 2 shakes per day.

Can someone with lactose-intolerance drink Shakeology even though it has 15g of whey protein (derived from milk)?
Because needs vary for each person with lactose intolerance, it is recommended that you check with your doctor first. However, non-vegan Shakeology (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and greenberry) is made with whey protein isolate, which is over 90% pure protein leaving only 10% of the ingredient where some lactose can be found. In addition, Shakeology is loaded with digestive enzymes–and Lactase is one of them. Lactase is the enzyme that breaks down lactose and is found in over-the-counter products like Lactaid. We recommend starting with a small dosage of Shakeology, monitor your body’s reaction and, if tolerant, slowly build up to a full dose or split a dosage up throughout the day.

For the vegan formulas, Tropical Strawberry and Chocolate Vegan: Because the vegan formulations are made with plant proteins rather than whey (dairy), they are the ideal choice for someone with lactose intolerance.  They are dairy free, Lactose free and soy-free. They contain a new proprietary blend of plant-based proteins. It is ideal for those who cannot tolerate or wish to avoid whey protein or animal proteins, and those with intolerances to dairy and soy.

What are the side effects an individual can expect when drinking Shakeology for the first time?
Some customers may experience initial digestive distress (such as constipation, bloating, gas) when they begin drinking Shakeology. These symptoms can be from a variety of factors such as a change in diet, lack of hydration, or what else a person is eating (or not eating) in addition to Shakeology. The pre/probiotics, fiber and digestive enzymes in Shakeology also can contribute to mild digestive distress. Think of it as a cleansing process to reclaim the healthy microflora in your system.  Many who have experienced such symptoms found that they lessened within a week or two of starting Shakeology. We suggest reducing your dosage to a ½ scoop once a day. Slowly build up to a ½ scoop twice per day as your tolerance increases. You may then work up to one full scoop per day. Although it is perfectly fine to continue to use Shakeology as 2 small snacks (at a ½ scoop each) throughout your day.  However, if symptoms persist, you should consult your physician.

Is Shakeology certified as Gluten Free? Is Shakeology allergen free?
Shakeology is not certified gluten free. Although Shakeology is made with gluten-free ingredients, all Shakeology formulas are in a manufacturing facility that also processes known allergens such as soy, milk, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts and wheat (gluten) ingredients. While our manufacturing procedure follows strict, required FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), which include immediate cleaning and breaking down of equipment after every production batch and proper air filtration systems as precautionary measures, the possibility of cross-contamination can never be 100% eliminated, therefore we are required by the FDA, to include a warning that addresses this.  Individuals with gluten concerns should consult with their doctors before consuming any supplements.

Is Shakeology safe for diabetics?
Since needs vary for each person with diabetes, it is recommended to check with your doctor first. However, since Shakeology is a low-caloric meal replacement, with a lower glycemic index than most meals, it should be acceptable for most people with diabetes. Shakeology has been certified by an independent third-party lab (Glycemic Index Laboratories) as having a low glycemic index of 24. Believe it or not, Shakeology’s GI rating of 24 is much lower than most fruits, some vegetables, and pretty much every processed food ever made. Shakeology helps to keep your sugar levels in balance while providing steady energy (avoiding that sugar spike and crash), supplying nutrition that satisfies, and helping to promote good health. Shakeology is considered safe for general use as a supplement, however if you have a unique or pre-existing medical condition, you should consult your physician prior to using Shakeology.

Should I continue to take ActiVit or other multivitamins along with Shakeology?
Because of the way Shakeology is formulated, one shake pretty much covers your body’s normal daily requirement for vitamins and minerals. However, if you’re following a recommended exercise routine, your body is likely to be using up those nutrients at a faster rate. For example, if you’re doing P90X or INSANITY routines that burn more calories, along with vitamins and minerals, you may need some additional supplementation, like ActiVit. Due to the digestive enzymes in Shakeology, taking ActiVit at the same time you drink Shakeology will help your body to better absorb all the nutrients.

Does Shakeology contain any caffeine or stimulants?
Our mission is to use whole ingredients (not extracts) in our formulations.  As such, a whole leaf, all-natural green tea is used in each of the Shakeology formulas. Natural cocoa (cacao) is found in Chocolate and Chocolate Vegan formulas; cocoa contains theobromine, a beneficial compound which has a similar chemical structure to caffeine. Therefore all formulations contain low levels of naturally-occurring caffeine.
The green tea we use in Shakeology is a whole herb powder with naturally occurring levels of caffeine. We don’t add caffeine to it, the plant contains it, and it’s not removed due to it being whole herb and not an extract. Only extracts can completely remove caffeine content from green tea. Despite this, the caffeine content is very low. For example, in Greenberry Shakeology, there less than one (1) mg per serving, to put this in perspective, a typical 12 oz cup of brewed coffee sold at a popular coffeehouse contains about 250 mg of caffeine . While the amount of caffeine maybe higher in Chocolate Shakeology flavors since Cacao (cocoa) contains naturally occurring levels of caffeine, it does not approach the amount in coffee or in caffeinated beverages. However, caffeine is a sensitivity for some consumers so if they can have no caffeine at all, it’s best to stay away from all sources, even naturally occurring amounts, and discuss the product with their doctor before consuming.

Is Shakeology safe for pregnant women and nursing mothers?
Shakeology should only be taken by pregnant women and nursing mothers under the direction of their physicians.  As with all of our supplements; we recommend that you consult with a healthcare professional if you are pregnant, breast feeding, or if you have any medical conditions.

That being said, there are lots of pregnant/nursing mothers on my Beachbody team that take it everyday with no issues and most of them love it!  If you contact me, I can add you to our team page and you can read the posts from all of our pregnant/nursing coaches who are using Shakeology.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR VEGAN FORMULATIONS: Shakeology is dietary supplement in a food form, and since our vegan formulas are not fortified, the levels of any one nutrient should not be an issue for anyone or for a pregnant woman. Pregnant women need to careful about levels of Vitamin A (10,000 IU is the upper limit), but the amounts we have at unfortified levels are similar to those found in unfortified foods and in fruits and vegetables. Accordingly, pregnant women should consider their intake of vegan Shakeology as part of their normal diet, but should not rely solely on Shakeology to meet the needs of pregnancy for nutrients like, iron, folate, Vitamin A, or calcium.
